SUMAKAH in Antipolo City

Living in Antipolo city was really fun. We stayed here for almost 10 years and I can say that Antipolo is one of the best cities in Luzon. When I was in high school at Sumulong Memorial High School, I joined the Drum and Lyre band and I played the instrument “table lyre”. At first, I didn’t know that I can experience this kind of celebration where many people are really participating well. As a member of the Drum and Lyre band in SMHS, we are one of the invited that time because we are the Champion for the competition of all Drum and Lyre band in Antipolo. It was really fun yet tiring because you need to parade along with the other participants in different competitions.

Antipolo was known in Suman, Mangga, Kasoy, and Hamaka (Duyan). But the real best seller in Antipolo was the Suman. Suman is made up of malagkit rice, mixed with coconut milk, and carefully wrapped in pieces of banana leaves. It is really hard to make a Suman because you need hard work, love, and passion in doing it for that the customers will truly be satisfied of what they eat. Next product of Antipolo was Mangga. Many trees here in Antipolo are Mango tree. Many street vendors are selling these sweet-sour mangoes with alamang or spicy salt. Next was Kasoy. I am not really a fan of eating Kasoy but many people say that it was delicious. Kasoy was from the fruit “Cashew Apple” where the seed of this was actually the Kasoy or Cashew Nut. Last but not the least was the Hamaka. Actually, I didn’t know that Hamaka was Duyan and I don’t think that this was still one of their products because I don’t see some stores selling those Hamaka anymore. Maybe in the past this is also one of the best seller in Antipolo city.
